SBA Relief Still Available for Small Businesses and PNPs in Greenbrier, Monroe and Summers Counties Impacted by 2024 Drought

5/5/2025

The deadline to return economic injury applications is June 2, 2025.

CHARLESTON, W.Va.—The West Virginia Emergency Management Division (WVEMD) reminds small businesses, agricultural cooperatives, and private nonprofit organizations (PNPs) impacted by 2024's drought conditions that they may be eligible for federal economic injury assistance through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)—but the application deadline is quickly approaching.

The SBA's Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) are available to eligible organizations in Greenbrier, Monroe and Summers counties that experienced drought-related losses. These low-interest loans can help cover operating expenses and working capital needs that could have been met if the drought had not occurred.

“This assistance is designed to help businesses and nonprofits stay strong," said WVEMD Deputy Director Matt Blackwood. “We encourage anyone affected by the drought to check their eligibility and apply before the June 2 deadline."

Key Information:

  • Application Deadline: June 2, 2025.
  • Eligible Applicants: Small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small aquaculture businesses, and most private nonprofit organizations.
  • Purpose: To offset working capital losses due to the drought—not for physical damage.
  • Loan Terms: Up to $2 million with interest rates as low as 4% for small businesses and 3.25% for PNPs, with terms up to 30 years.
