McDowell County Disaster Recovery Center Opens Friday March 7

A Disaster Recovery Center in McDowell County will open on March 7 to continue recovery efforts from February 15 flooding.

CHARLESTON, W.V.A.—West Virginia Emergency Management Division's (WVEMD) FEMA partners plan to open a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) tomorrow, March 7, 2025, at 8 a.m. in McDowell County to help residents impacted by recent flooding. The center provides individualized help to homeowners, renters, and business owners whose property sustained damage in the February 15 flooding event.

Survivors can visit the DRC to:

  • Apply for FEMA assistance
  • Check the status of an existing application
  • Get help with appeal letters and documentation
  • Access other state and federal recovery resources

Opening day hours of operation: 

  • Friday, March 7: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Hours Beginning Saturday, March 8:
  • Monday to Saturday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Closed Sundays
No appointment is necessary, and walk-ins are welcome. Residents can also apply for assistance at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-3362, or using the FEMA mobile app.
