CHARLESTON, W.Va.—More than $25 million ($25,332,759) in Federal disaster aid has been disbursed to West Virginians recovering from flooding in February 2025, thanks to a strong push by Governor Patrick Morrisey and coordinated response and recovery efforts by the West Virginia Emergency Management Division (WVEMD).

dec_4861.jpgGovernor Morrisey worked closely with WVEMD and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) partners to ensure the state received a federal disaster declaration that made Individual Assistance (IA) available to impacted individuals and families. The program delivers direct aid to residents whose homes, property, or basic necessities were affected by the event.

As of today, FEMA has disbursed more than $25 million in direct funding to eligible residents in Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Raleigh, Wayne and Wyoming Counties for:

  • Housing assistance
  • Home repair
  • Critical personal property

WVEMD has worked around the clock to help residents apply for assistance, answer questions, and support long-term recovery efforts in both the declared counties and statewide.

“Getting to this milestone shows the tireless efforts of our team, our local partners, and FEMA to cut through red tape and put resources directly into people's hands," said WVEMD Deputy Director Matthew Blackwood. “We're fully committed to supporting every step of this recovery process, from response to rebuilding."

West Virginians who were affected by the disaster and have not yet applied for FEMA assistance can still do so by visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov or calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).

The disaster assistance application deadline is Monday, April 28, 2025.
