Registration events scheduled for residents who may qualify for disaster recovery assistance
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – As a result of storms from February 27 to March 4, many households in southern West Virginia experienced flood damages. To ensure citizens have every opportunity to register for disaster assistance before the July 19 deadline, registration events will be held in Cabell, Kanawha, Mingo, and Wayne counties beginning on July 13.
During these events, representatives from voluntary organizations, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the West Virginia Emergency Management Division (WVEMD), and local emergency management agencies will be available to help with registration, provide resources, assist with documentation, and answer questions.
“Storms during February and early March of this year were especially hard on our southern counties," said WVEMD Director G.E. McCabe. “I encourage people in Cabell, Kanawha, Mingo, and Wayne counties to register with FEMA for assistance. The resources they can provide will help individuals and communities recover from damages caused by these storms and the flooding that followed."
While these events assist residents with new registrations, those who have already applied to FEMA and have questions or concerns are invited to visit the events to:
